INTRODUCTION

 

Edge of the Leap ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our coaching services and website.

 

Edge of the Leap is a New Jersey–registered limited liability company providing coaching services internationally.  

Our business operates primarily online and does not maintain a public physical office.  

For privacy and security reasons, we do not publish a physical mailing address.  

Clients and visitors can contact us at jess@edgeoftheleap.com for all privacy, data, and service-related inquiries.


 

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

 

We collect the following types of personal information:

 

Contact Information:

- Full name

- Email address

- Phone number

- Emergency contact name and phone number

 

Coaching-Related Information:

- Information you provide in our pre-coaching intake form, including your coaching goals, current life circumstances, desires, hopes, and personal challenges

- Notes from our coaching sessions

- Package/program enrollment details

- Session scheduling information

 

Payment Information:

- Payment is processed through third-party services (Venmo, Zelle, Wise, or bank transfer). We do not store your banking or financial account details directly.


 

2. HOW WE COLLECT YOUR INFORMATION

 

We collect information:

- When you fill out our website contact form

- When you complete our pre-coaching intake Google Form

- During our Discovery Call and coaching sessions

- Through email communication


 

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

 

We use your personal information to:

- Provide coaching services to you

- Schedule and conduct coaching sessions

- Communicate with you about your coaching program

- Maintain coaching records and session notes

- Process payments for services

- Contact your emergency contact only in rare circumstances where you display extremely unusual behavior, miss sessions without communication, and do not respond to multiple attempts to reach you over a 2-3 week period

 

We will never use your information for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

 

Emergency Contact Use:

Contacting your emergency contact is only done under the rare circumstances described above, and only if you have agreed to this provision in your Coaching Contract. Clients must explicitly consent to this in writing prior to engaging in coaching services.


 

4. HOW WE STORE YOUR INFORMATION

 

Your information is stored securely using the following methods:

 

- Email addresses and intake forms: Stored in our password-protected Gmail account with two-factor authentication enabled

- Session notes: Stored on a ReMarkable tablet (password-protected and cloud-synced) and in secure Google Sheets

- Client tracking information: Stored in password-protected Google Sheets

- Video call recordings (rare): Only created with your explicit written consent for coaching certification and mentoring purposes

 

All digital storage systems are password-protected and secured with industry-standard security measures.


 

5. HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION

 

We retain your personal information and coaching records for up to 10 years after the completion of our coaching relationship. This allows us to:

- Maintain continuity if you return for additional coaching

- Comply with professional coaching standards

- Reference our work together if needed

 

You may request deletion of your information at any time by contacting us at jess@edgeoftheleap.com.

 

Upon receiving your written request for deletion, we will delete all personal and coaching-related information within seven (7) calendar days. You will receive an email confirmation once this process is complete. All digital files and records will be moved to the Gmail trash folder for final removal and then permanently deleted from there.

 

If we are temporarily unavailable (for example, due to travel, illness, or limited access to our devices), the deletion process will be completed within seven (7) calendar days of regaining access to our systems. You will receive written acknowledgment of your request and confirmation once deletion is finalized.

 

Residual Backups:

While we permanently delete your data from active systems within seven (7) days of a deletion request, residual data may temporarily remain in system backups (such as Google Workspace and ReMarkable Cloud) for a limited period. This data is not accessible or used for any purpose and will be automatically purged according to the providers’ backup retention policies.


 

6. TOOLS AND PLATFORMS WE USE

 

We use the following third-party tools to provide our services:

 

- Video conferencing: Zoom and Google Meet

- Email: Gmail (Google Workspace)

- Scheduling: Google Calendar

- Forms: Google Forms

- Note storage: ReMarkable Cloud

- Payment processing: Venmo, Zelle, Wise, and bank transfer services

 

These platforms have their own privacy policies and security measures. We do not control how these third parties handle your data, but we choose reputable services that comply with data protection regulations.


 

7. SHARING YOUR INFORMATION

 

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

 

- With your explicit written consent

- When required by law

- With payment processors to complete transactions

- In rare cases, anonymously with a mentor coach for professional development purposes (your name and identifying details are never shared)

 

Payments are processed securely through third-party providers (such as Venmo, Zelle, Wise, or bank transfer). We do not store your financial account information. For information about how these providers handle your data, please refer to the providers’ privacy policies.

 

Session Recordings: On very rare occasions and only after establishing a solid coaching relationship, we may request your explicit written permission to record a session for coaching certification or mentoring feedback purposes. This is uncommon and always requires your advance consent in writing.


 

8. YOUR RIGHTS

 

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

 

- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you

- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information

- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information

- Objection: Object to how we process your information

- Data Portability: Request transfer of your information to another service provider

 

We periodically review applicable privacy laws and reserve the right to update our practices to remain compliant. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

 

Our business is based in the United States (New Jersey), but we serve clients internationally, including in the European Union and other countries. By using our services, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and stored in the United States.

 

We take appropriate steps to ensure your data is protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws, including GDPR for EU residents.


 

10. COOKIES AND WEBSITE TRACKING

 

Our website does not currently use cookies, analytics, or tracking technologies. If this changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and notify you accordingly.


 

11. SECURITY

 

We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures, including:

 

- Password protection on all devices and accounts

- Two-step authentication (2SA) on email accounts (Google's version of two-factor authentication)

- Secure password management using industry-standard password manager (Bitwarden)

- Secure cloud storage with reputable providers

- Limited access to your information (only accessible by the coach)

 

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.


 

12. DATA BREACH NOTIFICATION

 

In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will:

 

- Assess the nature and scope of the breach

- Take immediate steps to contain and remediate the breach

- Notify affected clients via email within 72 hours of discovering the breach

- Provide information about what data was affected and steps you can take to protect yourself

- Report the breach to relevant authorities as required by law

 

We maintain security measures to prevent breaches, but if one occurs, we are committed to transparent and prompt communication.


 

13. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

 

Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately.


 

14. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

 

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will post the updated policy on our website with a new "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
